Not to mention BB King
@vetguy1991 Not to mention Muddy Waters, Elmore James Blind Melon Jefferson, Robert Johnson. I didn't want to go back too far, but you can't forget them, they influenced so many people.
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
@DropTopDig but I did get to see Eddie van Halen play live once
Patty81 · 41-45, C
No Chuck Berry?
@Patty81 Yes, I forgot to add him. Good choice!
ArtieKat · M
Technically, Neil Young is Canadian; John Densmore, of The Doors, played drums - Robbie Krieger was their guitarist. Paul Kantner played rhythm guitar with Jefferson Airplane, their lead guitarist was Jorma Kaukonen.....
Synyster · 51-55, M
Randy Rhoads one of the best all-time guitarist

Also Dave Mustaine, Dimebag Darrell.
@Synyster And his talent no one will ever knew how good he could be. Other 2 I'm not really familiar with.
Synyster · 51-55, M
@DropTopDig Absolutely right. He was only 25 when he passed away.

Dave Mustain is the vocalist and guitarist for Megadeth and Dimebag is the guitarist for Pantera.
Hendrix and Van Halen
@CereBellum I forgot EVH. Poll was getting big & I also wanted to see other people's opinions.
vetguy1991 · 51-55, M
Eddie van Halen
helenS · 36-40, F
John Scofield, Mike Stern, Pat Metheny, Joe Pass, Barney Kessel, John Abercrombie, Larry Coryell.
@helenS More I forgot about.
helenS · 36-40, F
@DropTopDig I think your focus predominantly was on rock guitar players, my list contains jazz and fusion guitarists.
Your list is great, by the way. Although I don't know whether Mr. Springsteen is generally seen as a great guitar player.
I'm sorry I didn't include some people's faves, I didn't want the poll too long. That's why I said for one choice pick your own.
theAlchemist · 56-60, M
Where's Edward Van Halen? The greatest guitar innovator since Hendrix.
Wayward73 · 51-55, M
Johnny Cash said himself that he was a mediocre guitar player.
helenS · 36-40, F
@Wayward73 I think he overestimated himself when he said he was mediocre.
Wayward73 · 51-55, M
Jerry Reed
Zonuss · 41-45, M
No Axl Rose.🤔
@Zonuss You're forgiven
Wayward73 · 51-55, M
@Zonuss Slash is British not American.
@Wayward73 I didn't know that.
Zonuss · 41-45, M
helenS · 36-40, F
@Zonuss At least he could play the guitar. Quite unusual, for a guitar player.
caesar7 · 61-69, M
Darryl Stuermer from Genesis. Anyone who can copy the original guitar player Steve Hackett (my favorite) and makes it in the band has my respect.
caesar7 · 61-69, M
@helenS Nice!! I saw Steve also with his Genesis revisited tour. I was blown away. I have seen many concerts but this one stood out. He plays acoustic guitar so effortlessly with his fingers and his electric work is unique. The best of the rest in my book.
helenS · 36-40, F
@caesar7 In late 2019 I had purchased tickets for a Steve Hackett concert in Berlin which was supposed to be given in early summer 2020. Everything was neatly planned, my Berlin friends more than welcomed me.
And then came COVID... and the concert was canceled. 😕
caesar7 · 61-69, M
@helenS Ohhhhh nooooooo!!!!😲 That is a tragedy!!! lol
