What is the most disappointing concert you’ve attended?

John Mellencamp....he danced like a goofball and kept swearing and talking about political garbage when George Bush was in office. I just wanted him to sing and stop being a dickhead.

@MissMollyCharlotte0702 Why am I laughing so hard on this one?
Janis Joplin came to Syracuse when I was a student there and she got mad about the lights and noise or something...and quit in the middle. Sucked.
@bijouxbroussard Nobody got a refund either. She was corked and bummed. It hurt to see that.
@Stilltryinghard Axel Rose was famous for that. So much so Guns and Roses couldn't play some cities he was a masterful asshole.
@bijouxbroussard She was already pretty fried in those days.
Alice Cooper outside. The speakers blew over and when the wind died down Alice was drunk.

In 1970, Alice Cooper was still the name of the band, and they were putting out some very good records. In ‘75, Alice Cooper became a solo artist, and he did some good work until about ‘78 when he went off the deep end. I’m guessing the show where he was drunk was somewhere between 78-82, which is a period that he refers to as his blackout period. He doesn’t even remember making some of his records during that time. He’s been clean since the mid-80’s, and his current band is phenomenal.
@Stilltryinghard @Pitchblue
@Pitchblue sorry wrong speaker. don't laugh at people's mistakes.
@Pitchblue @SW-User What in your opinion was really good about his show in 1970? I have reasons 4 asking. I never knew this band myself but got curious because of the person who told me about him...

Bob Dylan, it was an awesome experience and a great night but you couldn’t understand a word out of his mouth lol
SW-User
Dylan isn’t exactly known for his enunciation. @Starchild1983
Starchild1983 · 41-45, F
Oh I know, but it was really really bad.. you could only tell the songs by the melody 🤷🏼‍♀️@SW-User
@Starchild1983 Epic songwriter. Vocals are hit and miss. 😏
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
Don’t laugh but Frankie Valli. I told my mother I wanted to see him before he died like maybe 10-15 years ago and none of the older people even sang. On the flip side his back up singers were pretty hot.

Flora Purim, she was high, wet herself on stage.
JarJarBoom · 41-45, F
@Byron8by7 Oh, what a shame ! I’ve wanted to see her in concert.
Byron8by7 · M
@bijouxbroussard It was way back in 1979.

I don't do concerts.
@SW-User rufus is gona be sad

@TryingtoLava He used to be cool, but then he turned into a bitch ass trophy husband anyway, so it doesn't matter.
@SW-User preach!
Van Halen...never did really like their music.
And even worse was World Series of Rock, everyone was good, Rick Derringer, The J Geils Band & Bob Seger but the headliner, Peter Frampton came out and was terrible...at least 40K walked out during his second song.
We had 75 mile trip home, started off with LZ- Song Remains the Same on 8-track 😂
SmartKat · 56-60, F
Dire Straits, only because we had terrible seats.
Tres13 · 51-55, M
joe cocker,he was drunk
SW-User
That’s too bad. I would have loved to have seen him and definitely would have been disappointed had he been too drunk to perform. @Tres13

First Pearl Jam concert was one of my favorite concerts. Second Pearl Jam concert was my most disappointing. Saw The Cure recently and I couldn't even get close enough on the lawn to see the large screens showing what was on stage.. so that probably sticks out most because... The Cure.
StraCat · 41-45, M
Hmm I'd say Flyleaf (singer had a REALLY off night), Incubus (not disappointed but was just bad), Suicidal Tendencies (idk what happened to the lead singer but he rambled the whole damn show), Red Fang (Torche openned for them and was lightyears better than they were. We left mid set)
JarJarBoom · 41-45, F
I'm going to get a lot of hate for this, but I've seen Tool live. There are times I'll listen to a Tool song and go "oh, shit, I forgot I seen these guys live"...thats how forgettable it was... that I literally can't remember that I saw them live.
Dusty101 · F
Robbie Williams phoenix Park Dublin.
I may as well have been at a rainy gathering of tossers dancing around with beer cans, couldn't see the stage and the speakers were all crackly and basey from the rain. It was an absolute farce!
raysam363 · 31-35, F
Not really disappointing, but a Godsmack concert on campus. The opening bands tried way too hard but sounded more like pop rock than anything.
kablan · 51-55, M

I don't even remember what their name was. Some upcoming rock band. They were awful
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
It's hard to get disappointed when you never expect much. 😅
Wasn't over impressed with the Jacksons.
MrGomco · 36-40, M
A Shakira concert in 2000 🤦🏻‍♂️
TheFragile · 46-50, M
Black Eyed Peas.
One year when I went to see Al Jarreau at the Greek in Berkeley—and only because it started raining midway through. The music was still awesome.
SW-User
At least the performance wasn’t disappointing. @bijouxbroussard

Chuck Berry, about 12 years ago. Had his typical pick-up band, who looked lost. Took forever between songs, and frequently tuned AT FULL VOLUME with what I assumed to be ancient strings(hence why he had to tune a lot). Walked out.

I would think at least one original member at minimum. Not all band members are created equal, though. Don Henley can probably tour with any group of musicians and get away with calling it The Eagles. On the other hand, nobody would want to see a version of The Eagles where Don Felder was the only member from the classic lineup. Several years ago, Mickey Finn (the percussionist) tried to tour with his version of T Rex, which was ridiculous. @Stereoguy
