There is always good music, you just have to look deep for it.

That is a fairly simplistic question as there are so many genres of "music". I, personally have never liked "popular" music as I have always been a classical and jazz aficionado. And in that context there has been a ton of good music. Now if the question was have there been any good musicians after the 80's, then the answer is a resounding YES.
