every week or so there will be one song that I obsess on and is either stuck in my head or I just can't stop listening to it. 3 weeks ago was "tomorrow is a long time" by Bob Dylan and "I see darkness" by Johnny Cash, last week was "dance this mess around" by B52s and this week is "starless" by king Crimson.

Yes, except I do this with specific albums/artists and often listen to their entire collections/discography over a number of years. For the last couple of years I've had a fascination with Elliott Smith. Before that, it was the Doors. Before that, it was the Kinks. Before that, it was Neil Young. Before that, it was ...... Green Day. lol. And before that.... Avril Lavigne. hahahah. Of course I still listen to all kinds of other music but I do tend to have a "main feature" at all times. I try to learn all I can of their music. Then... I'm not sure how it happens... But I find myself rolling into the next favorite... And these artists always hold a special place in my heart. ♥ They are always my favorites. ♥ It's something really special to discover... I feel like I somehow know these artists in a personal way, even if their recordings are decades old, and I've never met them... There is some kind of unspoken understanding I've only found with music.
