Jazz Improvisation is hard ... but awesome :)

I started playing clarinet 2 months ago, I have a background in other instruments, but have been away from music for the past several years... anyway, I put on a 2-5-1 backing track, and even though I've played a couple of songs in front of people, and can transpose keys, and have put in alot of time on music theory, I finally realized that I don't have my instrument learned nearly as much as I thought I did when playing simpler songs.
I've played piano since age 3'ish (i really had more structure/lessons around 5)
Plaed guitar since around 13, and trumpet in middle school - high school band (i wanted to play clarinet back then but they needed trumpet players. *sigh*
So now 30+ years later, I got a clarinet and have been working hard, practicing regularly, I know from past experience with other instruments that I'll get there eventually, but I guess the point of this post is...
Jazz improvisation is HARD (especially on a newly-learned instrument) ... but SUPER FUN / AWESOME :)
Any other clarinet players out there ??? then say hi! :) I'll log back on in the morning to check replies/messages. Nite nite
