I remember my second concert in 1974 watching Blue Oyster Cult with 5 guitars at once. The visual and sound was overwhelming and they had Buck Dharma leading it. Thin Lizzy then became a habit although I never saw them live.

If you just want the best guitar solo I would personally point to Megadeth. Far from the most technical but I love his note choice leading into different chord progressions while still being very exciting to listen to. For best playing and general technique I would point to Dream Theater's Train of Thought, both interesting and challenging, or anything by Jason Richardson. To change it up I'll also add in anything by Joe Pass ftw.
