I have never been died coverage over pre-existing conditions. It's all BS. The key has always been, as long as you keep being insured, the preexisting issue isn't an issue at all. But people would cancel coverage to save money, then get insurance when they get sick expecting the insurance company to pay.

@CopperCicada Even prior to Obamacare as long as you had no insurance lapses, you were always covered. Even if a new company.
@carpediem Millions of people work as contractors and work for employment agencies. They very commonly get NO health coverage from their employer. And many companies do not want to hire people over age 50, so those people must do contract work. I had no healthcare coverage from 2007 until Obama Care started in 2016. I still have no dental or vision coverage.

@badminton I'm independent and made sure I had health insurance. You could easily buy through trade associations, and more. So I don't buy the argument. There always has been health insurance for people to purchase. And it was [b]dramatically[/b] less expensive prior to Obama care. My insurance doubled after O'care and my deductible more than doubled. And with my wife having some issues, I'd routinely spend $30k plus per year between insurance and deductible after O'care.
If you didn't see the value of having health insurance, then that's on you. I did and ound a way to pay. I get it if you couldn't afford it. I felt that way AFTER O'care. It hurt my personal finances and my company because I didn't pass the $$ on to my employees.

in the early 90's most states had enacted laws prohibiting private insurance co's from imposing limits on pre existing conditions. under medicare for all private insurance will be eliminated and doctors paid on a fee for service basis. it would eliminate close to a million jobs and support for it drops from near 80% to under 40% when people realize all must have it. doctors salaries would take a significant hit leading to a shortage of new doctors. maybe a better idea would be to require all companies to provide health insurance to all their employees

@MarineBob There’s 34M diabetics in America. 30M people with heart disease. And you don’t want preexisting conditions to be covered because of not wanting to cover trans people.
