Do you usually serve shrimp cocktail as an appetizer with Thanksgiving dinner?

If you normally buy those horrible, horrible cooked shrimp rings, there is a better way.

Buy raw peeled and deveined large shrimp.

Make a Bouquet Garni. Use a clean square of white fabric, like a men's handkerchief that has never been used, and inside the handkerchief place 1/2 cup of dried parsley, 10 peppercorns, 2 or 3 dried bay leaves, and a teaspoon of dried thyme. Tie the fabric square with string. If you have fresh herbs, do not chop them...just tie them with the string and throw them right in the water with the peppercorns.

Boil in 4 cups of water and wait until the water is green, then add the shrimp and cook for about 2-3 minutes, just until the shrimp turn white and pink. Remove the shrimp from the boiling water. Do not rinse. Chill for one hour in the fridge. Remove the shrimp and place them on a bed of crushed ice, or arrange them by hanging them over the edge of a small serving bowl, with shrimp cocktail sauce in a tiny dish in the center.
