I Look At the Moon

[youtube=https://youtube.com/watch?v=wCREDfUEd3Y]
In a few days, it will be the Mid Autumn Festival. It is on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar, a night when the moon is at its brightest.

但愿人长久
May we all be Content by Faye Wong

When did the moon first appear?
With a cup of wine in my hand, I ask the blue sky.
In the heavenly palace on this night,
I wonder what year it is there now.

I'd like to ride the wind to fly home.
Yet I fear the crystal and jade mansions
are much too high and cold for me.
Dancing with my moonlit shadow,
Is it any different from the human world?

The moon rounds the red mansion,
Stoops to silk-pad doors,
Shines upon the sleepless,
Bearing no grudge,
Why does the moon tend to be full when people are apart?

People may have sorrow or joy, be near or far apart,
The moon may be dim or bright, wax or wane,
This imperfection has been going on since the beginning of time.
May we all be content,
Though thousand miles apart
we are still able to share the beauty of the moon together

The lyrics of this song is from the beautiful poem "Remembering Su Che (his younger brother) on the Mid-Autumn Festival" by Song dynasty poet Su Shi (1037-1101).

Although you see the moon while I see the sun and vice-versa, our thoughts for them are the same...stay there until the moment our eyes see the same
