There was a movie I watched as a girl that always made me cry. The Little Princess. It’s set before the turn of the 20th century, a little girl attending boarding school while her fathers away at war. When the school receives word he’s dead they allow her to stay to sleep and eat at the school but she can’t study and she does the cleaning etc She uses her imagination to escape the tragedies of her life. I haven’t seen it in years but it always made me cry.
