Interesting question regarding Lord of the Rings

I find it weird that both LOTR and Elder Scrolls have gunpowder exist in the universe and even have made bombs from it. I find it hard to believe there are no cannons or firearms of any kind. I mean Gandalf has FIREWORKS!

Huh. I never thought about that. I mean, if the orcs had gunpowder bombs, then they could have primitive guns. And primitive, savage, unrefined guns would fit right in with Tolkien's themes of the dangers of industrialization and the orcs being crude and industrial and all that. Which means that WE COULD HAVE HAD ORC MUSKETMEN VERSUS SWORD CAVALRY!

Hang on, I need to go write a fanfiction.
