WEST SIDE STORY IS ON LOCAL TV!!!

You did know she won the Oscar for that movie, didn't you? I think she richly deserved it. And she is still active today. I believe that, by the time she goes to her reward, she will be missed by many people who have viewed her in "West Side Story" - and in whatever else she chooses to do.

A side bar to this subject - I had a teacher whose first name was Maria. She told her class one time, "I used to hate my first name because I thought it was so foreign sounding - until I saw 'West Side Story'."

It's obvious you haven't seen the movie. its about two rival gangs and their members who are battling for possession of their "turf" (street)and the leader of the Jets falling in love with the sister of the leader of the Sharks. it is and was an update of the Romeo and Juliet storyline, started with William Shakespeare. No immigrants here.

It's a common theme that has been repeated many, many times. It holds true today in any big city that has street gangs - only the "West Side Story" folks favor knives, not guns.
