Why does Hollywood feel the need to keep remaking movies?

Some of them are just awful 😒

$$$$$$

It’s easier to sell established/known properties than create new ones. At the end of the day, it’s a business. They’ll stop with remakes, reboots, and sequels when people stop paying to see them.

Lack of creativity and independent thought

I think they are trying to redo films which were monetarily successful, especially if they don’t require a great deal of production costs. The focus has become more about "what might make money?" rather than about "what would be an interesting and creative project?”.
I’m also not a huge fan of Disney remaking animated films as live action films.

Money, they are riding the coattails of the previous movie and that helps with the publicity of the second one.
