@Gusman There's episodes that are fairly lighthearted and fun, although the underlying themes are certainly pretty grim. It's in German, but I speak so I don't require subtitles. It's set in depression-era Berlin, and follows the stories of several different unrelated characters - a pair of policemen hunting down a band of train robbers, a dedicated communist revolutionary attempting to overthrow the German leadership for their mistreatment of the working class, an extremely poor young woman who lives a double life as a prostitute that solicits fancy parties, and a deceitful crossdresser posing as a male pop singer but who is really a female working for the soon-to-be Third Reich - as their respective adventures and experiences bring them together in both conflict and cooperation.

@Gusman mostly intriguing questions. He's not Batman yet, he's still a child; it starts right after his parents are killed. Alfred raises him. Even Jim Gordon is young. It's worth watching.
