Pvt Godfey. A very modest man who had been awarded the Military Medal for bravery at the Battle of the Somme, during the Great War. A bit of trivia: In real life, Arnold Ridley, the actor who played Godfrey, actually fought at the Battle of the Somme and was severely wounded.
