The Spy Who Loved Me is on TV for the millionth time, is that the most sexist title scene ever?

It is embarrassing to watch.
Not as bad as Octopussy.😂

@BemyValentine He was so old in that it should have been called Octogenarian
@CathyUK 😂lol I know!

I don't suppose anyone ever watched Bond films for their enlightened perspective on gender issues....
Serenitree · F
@Harmonium1923 Probably not.

While I don't particularly like that movie, or really any Bond film, I'm not sure why that title is sexist. Could you explain, please?
RemovedUsername8862 · 26-30, M
@Serenitree Yup, for all but Wai Lin, I don't get the innuendo there. And, to be honest, Elektra King sounds more like a rock band than innuendo. The rest do sound like stripper names or something.

I suppose that I should offer some clarification: Yes, it's patently obvious that James Bond films are sexist - I just didn't get why this one in particular stands out. They're all pretty much the same, I'd say, as far as ridiculous male power fantasies go.
Serenitree · F
@RemovedUsername8862 yeah. Those two probably don't belong on that list.

Except for the meaning behind Electra.

old-fashioned term for the Oedipus complex as manifested in young girls.
Yes, I see what you’re saying. But that was the entire premise of James Bond, which came out during the heyday of Playboy magazine. Purely a man’s fantasy: action and adventure, toys and gadgets, Bond girls to use and discard along the way. Ironically, one of my favorite tv shows came out around the same time (The Avengers) but Mrs.Emma Peel was badass in her own right and fully participated. She was not “window dressing”.
Serenitree · F
@bijouxbroussard Ha! I misread what OP said. I thought she said it was the sexiest, not sexist.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
@bijouxbroussard Emma Peel was the real deal!

@bijouxbroussard Dianna Riggs was intelligent as well. Mrs Peel and Mr Steed worked great together.

But Dianna Riggs became a Bond girl, actually Mrs. Tracy Bond, James Bond's wife in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".

are all spies girls then? :)

One of my fave Roger Moore Bond films😞

Either you saw a different title sequence than I did, or you see something in it that I don't.
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
eh, finding something to accuse.

don't watch it.
Coolkid77 · 31-35, M
Not really, but I love James Bond.
