Approximately when was television invented?

Just wondering how many could answer without Googling it.

TV became popular in the early 1950s when cheap TV sets were first sold.

I think John Logie Baird did his first demonstrations in 1925.
EDIT: Yeah, my memory was correct. And apparently the BBC started broadcasting TV in 1935, but the war killed TV for a long time.

Vladimir Zworykin invented a cathode ray tube around 1915, I think. This was the forerunner of television. There were TV broadcasts back in the 1930s, but very few people had televisions to receive them.

1920s I think. The first hockey game was televised in 1939 (NYC), so it had already been around for awhile.
