I Think We Need To Do More To Help Those Whom Are Suicidal

Everyone should have someone to comfort them when they want it, but that seems to not happen often. Some people would rather take their own lives than tell how they feel. They feel like they're burdening someone. As someone who's been there many times, I understand that some people just CAN'T get help. Not really. Sure, they can accept therapy/counseling, get on medication and do some things that are normal like have a job, keep a house up and running or dress with confidence, but they're not actually better. That's WHY they finally go through with it. They could have 50 people lined up at their door volunteering to help support them in their dark depression, but I don't think that some people who are in a much better state of mind realize that. Some people actually feel that they don't deserve help, or there's no hope in trying because they've had it (depression/suicidal thoughts or tendencies) for so long.

No, I don't believe being suicidal is selfish. Not truly. I admit it's always very hard for those that love them that are left behind when a person takes their own life, but...the way I see it, severe depression is like a disease that kills you but yet still keeps you alive, as in you're breathing. Surviving, but not living. I'm convinced that maybe, just maybe, it's a disease that never ends even when you're dead.

Very well said and I agree with every bit of that. I feel that way most of the time.
