I Have a Suggestion for Similar Worlds

Well more of a statement.

This site is kind of a joke, because no one takes anything seriously. There are so many self glorified trolls running amuck and the chance of finding actual online support, and making valuable connections is very slim.

If someone where to come to similar worlds with the notion of finding a safe space, an online community to speak freely about things that are troubling them, without the fear of ridicule and scorn. I would be very saddend to tell them, that this ain't it chief.

It’s why I don’t post or even talk much on here anymore

It's a difficult balance between freedom and control. Allowing people to do what they want lets trolls act this way, but eliminating them will take anyone's ability to truly be open because everyone will have to worry about SW police not letting them express themselves over any offense. Intended or not.
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
Not everyone is here to ridicule others. I've always found support from more than one person on here even about serious problems. And the part about the no one taking anything serious isn't true either.
LikeTheSun · 22-25, F
@MURD3RM0NK3Y Not everyone yes. But a lot though. Like I can post something asking about seriuos advice and get the dumbest replies. Its a little annoying
MURD3RM0NK3Y · 26-30, M
@LikeTheSun Yeah I know what you mean. It doesn't happen all the time though it just depends who's online. I get stupid replies too but I learned to just ignore the worthless ones and focus on the good ones. I almost maxed out my block limit becuse I can't stand most people on here but there is good ones. Hopefully your luck changes soon though.

What you say is true of any internet site. EP, which was begun with the intention of providing online support for disabled people, became a forest full of trolls and pervs. I don't think there is a screening process available to social media that forces people to be kind, intelligent, or considerate.

What I suggest is that you block and block some more. It is possible to block the people who are consistently awful.
LikeTheSun · 22-25, F
@4meAndyou true 😩 idk why people are so awful!!
4meAndyou · F
@LikeTheSun {{hugs}} Just block the creeps.
@4meAndyou Well there is in fact a screening process available. For example, Reddit is heavily moderated - you can't even post something if it's in the wrong section - and if it's deemed irrelevant, it will get deleted without pardon, either by a bot or a moderator. However, Reddit is not the best platform anyway.
[c=#359E00]this kind of thing is not the fault of the site but the people who use it[/c]
@wakanda4eva [c=#359E00]something like that, still depend on the community. If they report it then admin can take action, if no one report it then it considered okay[/c]
wakanda4eva · 26-30, F
@YukikoAmagi yeap pretty much how f*cked up it is, give the ppl what they want.or what their paid members want

People are too closed minded and argumentative on this site. 90 percent of the people rather they admit it or not log on to argue with people.
@SW-User [c=#359E00]being open minded here means talk about about sex. I can say that from my experience[/c]
LikeTheSun · 22-25, F
@SW-User I'm a little confused on this statement, but I do agree on the close mindedness
lovingdead · 31-35, M
EP felt like a support site, where as this is a mix between message board and social media
LikeTheSun · 22-25, F
@lovingdead very true, I think I really miss that part
lovingdead · 31-35, M
@LikeTheSun me too
RaemaSnr · 22-25, F
Yeah there are unbearable trolls but sometimes I can get really good advice.
It would be better if you made suggestion to fix these problems
LikeTheSun · 22-25, F
@RaemaSnr oh okay well, sorry about that then.
RaemaSnr · 22-25, F
@LikeTheSun 😅 sorry back
LikeTheSun · 22-25, F
@RaemaSnr lol no you're fine!! I was just kind of already annoyed from some of the people & comments on here. I shouldn't have judged what you were saying right off back like that.
Laughman · 46-50, M
Well said and partly true.
wakanda4eva · 26-30, F
"finding a safe space"

"An online community to speak freely about things that are troubling them"

Those two sentences doesnt go together, like mayo and lollipops
LikeTheSun · 22-25, F
@wakanda4eva Maybe not for you, but I'd consider anywhere you are accepted, and your thoughts and concerns can be made known freely and discussed w/o fear of ridicule or ostracism to be a safe space.
wakanda4eva · 26-30, F
@LikeTheSun i understand where ur coming from, and I get what u mean, I also sometimes dont post anything personal anymore in fear of what ppl respond, but thats just me personally, and honestly I think this place does that very well in providing ppl with people sharing their problems, and getting supportive responses. Too well in fact because I've seen time and time again people supporting and complaining along with people complaining about others in vulgar obscene insenstive ways..but if u say the same thing as a comment to the persons post directly its considered "trolling".

this place feels also very restrictive and biased, its either all okay or none okay, how is who and what selected what is deemed as "trolling".

Reports here often isnt judged by the content, but based on automated sub report system based on how many reports a post gets.

"Please only submit a report in cases of actual abusive, spam, suicide or illegal activity.
If a user is simply arguing with or insulting you, then please Block that user instead.
If you submit false reports, your account may be penalized and limited for misleading accusations"

When I understand abusive, illegal activity, spam, I picture specific posts that talk and show of abusing animals or people or children, scamming. But is it? When I've seen these kind of things slide as well when I reported a user of admitting of scamming and committing credit fraud here, and seem to be proud of stealing money at it.

I was warned for harassing and annoying other users

To fix "Stop harassing, threatening or annoying other members."

and innaprorpiate comments which they say how to fix to stop commenting " Stop posting content which is inappropriate, insensitive, vulgar or hateful on Similar Worlds."

Seems to contradict their set of rules. Like what is picked as "innapropriate comments" and what is not? If reporting insults is against the rules and gets ur account limited, but u see also others with paid membership accounts very so having the freedom of right to say whatever they wanna say that u have been reported for doing the same, ans silenced into not talking about it.

And in their rules as well, if u read them all it adds up to is they can remove any content and suspend anyone they want if it doesnt follow their guidelines, and their guidelines are also very vague as well.

Personally I really dont want this place to be taken seriously, what is deemed "trolls" is always subjective, i like dark humor, I like jokes, insensitive comments, just honest opinion. And honestly these comments for me in posts helps me see from different perspectives and different light, if their just a dick being a dick, I either chose to block them if they do it again, entertain em back with my dicky self, or leave em alone.

I think by saying u want people to able to "speak openly about their problems" without "trolls" is very toxic in itself because I'be seen a lot of ppl complain about others in posts and people have to blindly support them, without questioning if THEIR the problem, and sometimes directly at that.

If u cant take the heat of posting on a public forumn, dont post it, or instead just come to their defence, instead of limiting freedom of speach.

Because by saying "you are accepted, and your thoughts and concerns can be made known freely and discussed w/o fear of ridicule or ostracism to be a safe space"

Is very contradictory in itself because you cant have ur thoughts and concerns freely discussed and accepted without also the freedom of freely accepting any kind of discussion from others, to what u personally deem as "ridicule or ostracisism"

I'd rather be able to openly talk and post in response, than to "just report".

Although the report does have its favors as well, like Im all for going against exploitation of children, thats what I only report literallly most all the time, and people that come back.with multiple accounts also have a high success rate in getting them blocked and reported, believe me I made a new account and it got shut down instantly lol.

More than not its not trolling that is the problem but how restricted it feels to talk about people directly in a honest manner with proofs, without the fear of getting reported urself or shunned, or silenced into just abiding that only other users can but u cant.
wakanda4eva · 26-30, F
@LikeTheSun but I must admit its saddening to see how some people posts something personal, or controversial, and they get blasted back in the comments, and u cant defend em because well sometimes u feel.their case is hard to defend so u just have to let it slide, and if u wanna joke at serious stuff u risk the fear of getting reported and backlash as well.
Syktur · 26-30, M
I’m most certainly not here to ridicule others. I’ve never trolled, I’ve never judged (except the diaper fetishists — fuck those guys), and I’ve never been nasty to people like I see others doing.
LikeTheSun · 22-25, F
@Syktur I haven't quite either, nor do I see the appeal tbh. I've seen some really disgusting ppl on here tbh. But yeah thank goodness I haven't ran into any diaper people, I don't think I will ever really understand that one.
