I Hate Seeing People Texting And Driving

It is actually illegal to do this in the UK.

On Monday my girlfriend Sophie (who is a paramedic) attended a road traffic accident. Young woman had come off the road, ploughed into an oak tree, partially exited the front windscreen headfirst, with tragic consequences.

And she still had her phone grasped in her left hand.

The only blessing is that the accident involved not other cars or pedestrians.

Please, just don't do it 😢

I can't stand it when people text & drive. They are COMPLETE MORONS.

I don't have a car & had to rely upon this guy to drive me around. Well guess what he did ALL the time & I'd try & say something & he'd get angry at me. Even yelled at me several times.

This is the US.

He would even make a right turn, & then stop in the middle of the road & text. He'd also fall asleep at the wheel (another story) & we once got into an rear end bumper b/c he didn't go when the light turned green & the person behind him wasn't paying attention & bumped into him.

While it wasn't major, on the way to the health care center he almost plowed into the wall underneath the highway b/c he fell asleep.

I know you will all say I shouldn't have driven with him b/c my life was at risk, but I didn't feel I had a choice as I had no way to get around fast & to certain places without someone driving me. It was almost impossible to find anyone to help in Vegas as it's a very fucked up city. I tried.

But I hated people texting even prior to this experience.

It's a start, but social stigma is the best way of changing habits. This is just as dangerous as drink driving or driving when tired. People have to remember they are in charge of a lethal machine.

Why is it that most people seem to go totally BRAINDEAD when they get behind the wheel of a machine capable of KILLING!
TEXTING and DRIVING
Not knowing what "lane ends" means
Thinking STOP means slow down
Thinking YIELD doesn't apply to them
Turning around by TRESPASSING on someone's property by using their driveway
SPEEDING around you just to turn a very short distance away
Turning their turn signal on AS they are turning or not at all
RIDING their break down a hill

These people must have gotten their liscence through the post office or the black market.

I saw someone as I was driving into a public car park, oblivious to all around her. I beeped my horn and she looked at me as though I was mad.

I completely agree with you. This is a dreadful practice and, as your story shows, the consequences can be tragic
