Is NATO a spent force?

Trump seems unsure of lot of things !
Wasn't he saying a few weeks back that he wanted NATO to shoulder more of the costs of future military operations ?

@Picklebobble2: Yes, and so they should. But then he said that he thought it had run its course (I think). Then EU leaders kicked in with something like 'we better look elsewhere for defence'.

@Valentine: Trumps view or perception of the world is very different from how the rest of us see it.
But i rather like the idea of a break with American foreign policy.
Next time America wants to go pick a fight with Iraq or Syria or Afghanistan, they can risk their own troops rather than ours.
