@Tracos i didn't think you were an idiot! Just thought Locke was a better foreign candidate.. or maybe Tom Payne?

For home-grown candidates, i'd go with jefferson

@VSonMe Tom Payne aka Thomas Pain/ Thomas Paine was born in Thetford, Norfolk making him British 🙂

@Dlrannie i know, that's why i said foreign candidate. Glad you know of him though!

Good question and as a UK citizen looking from the outside I probably don't know enough individuals to put any forward, I believe real heroes tend to be anonymous until their acts are highlighted. The US military and the Police forces tend to get bad press based on the actions of individuals but would it be worth putting the fire service forward? I don't know.
As I say real heroes tend to ba anonymous but the UK has one who stands out head and shoulders above all other nominations Aneurin Bevan founder of the NHS (and he was a Welshman so no Englishmen as far as I can think).

@VSonMe influential but a hero, not sure. Leader of UK forces during the war obviously but other than making decisions on tactics under the guidance of the military leaders and making some great speeches (many of which I enjoy hearing) I don't think he did anything heroic. It tells a story when immediately after the war he was voted out of power.

@GeniUs that wasn't commentary on him. It was something that was stirring anyway.

He was a hero, i think. You minimize his role. He had to make the hard decisions. It was his decision not to evacuate coventry, for example. He inspired the nation and our allies. He deserves his accolades

All about opinions and to me the decision makers are rarely heroes.

@MarineBob Don't you ever speak from your heart instead of a poster?

Most all Political words in here leaves me feeling less and less creative. I rarely feel creative. Unless by chance I currently am into my writing. My mind sometimes opens up when I'm involved in one of my Random stories. Only the one that was ever published. Still, it makes me feel smart, when I know I'm not. Most of my thoughts are from memories of dreams that I had while sleeping.
Well..either G.I. Joe or Hulk Hogan
