My fiancé is leaving soon for boot camp. What should I expect?

My fiancé is leaving soon for the navy. He’s going for nuclear engineering. What should I expect? I’ve never been in a relationship like this before. We’ve been together for 2 years already. He’s my best friend and we’ve never been apart from each other. We’re getting married after boot camp. I’m really nervous.

Don’t expect to talk on the phone a lot. Your main source of communication during this phase is going to be letters. Thanks to you and him for your service 🇺🇸

As soon as you get an address from him start writing a little note each day. Even just a postcard. He'll look forward to them like you can't imagine. Don't worry too much about him missing you or feeling lonely, he will of course but boot camp is very specifically set up to keep him busy and tired! I'm not sure how long Navy boot is 8 to 10 weeks probably. They will fly by for him, it will take a bit longer for you. And yes! He will be different when it's all said and done, try not to be too shocked, it's a good thing usually! Best of luck to both of you, it matters!

What a coincidence. My boyfriend is about to leave for the army next week and we’ve also been together 2 years.

You will need to be his anchor (no pun intended) You both are going to boot camp, just in a different way. But if your love is strong... nothing will tear it apart. And the rewards it will bring you both are tremendous!

Good luck to you it did not work for me she could not take the fact I was out to sea all that time...But if you really love him maybe you will be ok...😉
I am a retired Navy chief.
I have helped a Navy Officer make a transition once she entered service.
I will be happy to answer questions.
It will be ok as long as you both love each other it won't matter if you are apart your love will endure
He will be ok. Not sure how it is now but i could only call once a week in basic
