Volunteering/Coast Guard and Navy

So I'm currently in college going for a 4 year degree and am trying to get a commission and fly in the coast guard or navy. I'm also a certified scuba diver. I am probably going to start volunteering at the Georgia Aquarium this summer because you can dive in the tank with the whale sharks and scrub the glass for free but you must commit to at least 100 volunteer hours there per year. If I did this all throughout college and graduated with 300 volunteer hours at the aquarium would that be a big boost to my resume when trying to get a commission with one of those branches? Especially the ones that deal with the ocean? Also I know the coast guard has scuba divers and I would be interested in doing that as well. Are officers allowed to be apart of the coast guards scuba diving teams?

Talk to someone in Coast Guard aviation
I was in the Coast Guard and I never seen an officer do anything but try to make an already tough job harder ,
I have actually had them come on my boat like they knew something and then cry for me to get us out of trouble ,
Its not as easy as it looks ,no one calls the Coast Guard unless all hell is breaking lose ,and someone is dying or afraid they are
but we do train a lot to make it look easy

@rckt148 well You have to be an officer to fly aircraft and that's what I'm ultimately trying to do. However I'd be perfectly fine with scuba diving for the coast guard as well.

@Daniel1120 thats why I said talk to someone in aviation
I know all our pilots were officers ,,but I never knew of one in the water ,
Master Chiefs don't go in the water ,
So if your goal is to just fly then that would be an option
but if you want to dive you may want to go a different route
You can have your college give you a prior service status ,a class A school and you go on to dive school ,I was offered class A schools but as a Machinist Mate ,
I had lots of experience with boats ,I come from a fishing family ,but I am also 3rd generation Coast Guard ,
So I got to do exactly what I joined for ,to do Search and Rescue
And I worked alot with Helo's and trained with them twice a week
but all about what rate and rank the crew , I am not sure
but I am pretty sure officers do not get in the water
