I Feel Trapped In a Relationship
Today my mother in law (who owes us $100) asked if she could pay us back next week instead of this week. My fiance got mad because she is [i]constantly[/i] borrowing money from us and takes forever to pay it back. So after he got mad, she ran to her purse and threw the $100 at him, then stormed out and slammed the door.
After she slammed our door, my fiance just went nuts and tore up the $100 she gave us and threw it in the trash. Needless to say I was devastated. His temper is bad anyway, but his mother just drives him up the damn wall.
It's not that we don't want to help her out, but...we shouldn't HAVE TO. Her husband gives her an ample allowance to pay bills with and to buy herself what she needs (like toiletries and cigarettes). But she doesn't budget so she is always coming up short and has to borrow from us (we do odd jobs just to scrape by because we can't find work! We buy our own food and toiletries.).
She blows her allowance on eating out EVERY DAY, buying lottery tickets, buying junk from pawn shops, and playing Bingo. My fiance and I don't do ANYTHING leisurely. We stay home 24/7, sending out resumes and job applications. We cook at home and all of our clothes are 10 years old.
I told my fiance flat out: I will not stay with someone who rips up money because he's mad. He taped the money back together and apologized. But honestly even if he didn't, what could I do??? I have nowhere to go. I am trapped in this house and in this relationship indefinitely.
Sometimes suicide sounds like Heaven.
