I Love Abandoned Places

Gartnavel Asylum

The building is called the East House, designed to house mentally ill poor people. The richer ones got housed in the West House which was more ornate.

West House is in use for administration now.

What an amazing looking building! Love old school construction like that. Its so gothic looking. The stone itself seems literally saturated with decades of the madness it had to contain.

I toured a local abandoned asylum for a Halloween event. The history was very interesting.

@CM440 I can imagine, seems to be largely an American thing, haunted house type tours.

@Isthisit True, but most are just shells with the floors collapsed, so demolition seems only a matter of who is willing to pay the cost.
