What I have learned from you young lady makes me me small in comparison to the knowledge you have at such a young age... God bless your intellect I am happy to have come across your page and to have spoken to you...

Quid rides? Mutato nomine de te fabula narratur ;)

@DanielChristensen It is truly beautiful.
My favourite is Catullus' 85th poem, being an emotional fool (Odi et amo. Quare id faciam fortasse requiris. Nescio, sed fieri sentio et excrucior)

@Melpomene Oh yes.
"I hate and I love. Why do I do this, perhaps you ask.
I do not know, but I feel it and I am tortured."
Beautifully succinct. Also sums up the human condition

@SatyrService Uhm, not really. I meant to say: I am dark but stars can't shine (I prefer ''light'' (candeo) for this because it's a source of light, whilst things can shine - such as moonlight- even if they only reflect; here in English I used shine because ''light'' would give it another meaning) without darkness. I'm still bad at Latin (dead languages are much harder) and that's why it sounds so unnatural.
Wouldn't the translation for this be (roughly): Dark (or darkness?), but I cannot see unless shiny stars exist in the darkness? I know it's a lot of ''darkness'' but I can't remember any other words that'd be closer
*bows* I envy you, though. That's a great sentence, especially if it isn't a quote

@IvanKaramazov "Long live ignorance"?
@Melpomene Speaking as an overeducated autodidact, there is some truth in the saying "ignorance is bliss." The irony is that the only way to know the truth of the idiom is to have learned more than you would, had you the choice, want to know.
Melpomene · 22-25, F
@IvanKaramazov I always dreamed of knowing a lot and being very wise but acting stupid and mysterious so people aren't sure if I'm really smart, stupid or just a random weirdo.
But yeah, sometimes it's better to not know..

@IstillmissEP I think I heard of a college having that as their motto.
