I Am a University Student

Yes love it. History and theology are two subjects I find very interesting.
The history of the Roman Catholic Popes is incredibly engaging.

According to Catholic lore, the apperance of St Jean D' Arc, (my favorite Saint), is an example of clear divine intervention on behalf of the church. Had France not prevailed in the 100 years war that Jean D'arc helped bring to an end, France would not have been sufficiently strong to shelter the Holy See during the flight to Avignon. Arguable? Perhaps Coincidence? Maybe Fascinating? You betcha!

(I am a sort of amateur Hagiographer, mostly as a hobby though)
@Stranger It is fun to hunt down relevant literature to do research with.
The recent ties with contemporary movies with Gnosticism I find disturbing.

Agreed! Probably the only redeeming quality of pamphlets like Dan Brown's and their bundled movie deals is promoting tourism at some historical sites through Europe, and sparking curiosity about medieval art and society. Most will shortsightedly stop digging and be satisfied with an entertaining but shallow. Conspiracy theory that needs to be resolved within the confines of 600 pages or less, but at least a few will seek further knowledge and find the incredibly rich work and thought that was developed before the Renaissance.

Perhaps unpopular subjects to most, but I'm glad young people do find an interest in classified subjects. Theology in particular is a subject few dare explore, perhaps in the misconception that in order to study the nature of God, one had to subscribe to an ascetic way of life. It helps, but it's not Conditio sine qua non.

Congratulations!
Just don't get too used to it....someday it's off to the big world for you!

@SWisGoingWoke the big world does have a place and a need for people to devote themselves and their efforts to the research and analysis of history, theology and other unpronounceable subjects too obscure for most of us to consider spending the effort to understand.

Some may think those are unmarketable skills. But surely you've heard or read at least once, names like "Chomsky" or "Umberto Eco".

I was surprised to learn they are scholars in a field where those dedicated to study itall over the world may fit in a single roon: Phylology. The study of symbols and their significance throughout history.

And yet I stumbled into Chomsky in the most unlikely of places: his thoughts on lexicographic analysis of languages, made possible the development of Just in Time compilers like the one that powers the Java Virtual machine. So you never know what area of research will bring about the next waves of human development.
@Stranger Hey, if you can get paid enough to eat, do what you want.

I never enjoyed History class, but now that I can learn for fun instead of to pass a test I love it.
