I Am From Louisiana

Day 3 on the ark
It finally stopped raining! Everyone is celebrating. They have people wading through the floodwaters, they have people with big trucks passing by,people floating by in boats and rafts like they were just relaxing on the lake.My grandma's neighbors are letting their kids swim in the floodwater which is Ewwww gross. Some neighbors are dancing on their porches playing cheesy music like New Kids on the Block lol. That's the thing about Louisiana mother nature can't break our spirit. But I don't feel much like celebrating since I'm pretty sure my house is flooded.I just feel like saying F*** you Louisiana,I'm moving to California where I never have to worry about rain again! Later in the day it was confirmed that my house was indeed flooded. What a mess.
Day 4 Disembarking the Ark
Finally left the Ark today. The water went down a little and I waded through it to get to my vehicle and drove through a little water left on the roads to get to my house. We arrive and open the door and what a disaster. It smelled like feces in there.Flood waters smell so nasty.Lord knows what was in that water and now it's in my house. So I try not to be grossed out and suck it up and get to work.We stripped out all the carpet, began washing and disinfecting the walls and the floors.By the end of the day I was exhausted. My back ached,my feet hurt, and still had a lot to get done.I will be back tomorrow to fix you home crap home.

I worked all day into the night cleaning and disinfecting every single surface in my house.I'm surprised at how much I actually got done. After I'm so exhausted I can't go anymore I leave to go stay at my aunt's house. She didn't flood.I'm sick of the Ark lol.I'm thinking as I'm getting ready for bed that I'm probably going to be able to move back in my house really soon and then I hear it - Rumble of thunder in the distance. Then the dreaded emergency alert system sound on the tv,more rain is coming and new flood warnings are issued. Then I hear the deluge of rain hitting the roof.I'm like NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!! And the nightmare begins all over again.
My heart goes out to you and everyone in my home state of Louisiana during this time. And yes I had family and friends effected by the flooding. But I'm so proud of the people of Louisiana for stories of compassion and willingness to help others! Our Cajun Navy when above and beyond to assist all those in need!
My travels have taken me away from the state I love with all my heart but she Louisiana will always be my first love plus her people! As the rain fell I found myself in Argentina for work feeling helpless and praying for my state, family and friends! May the waters recede and hope find it's way to you and family please always stay Louisiana Strong!

I live in Illinois. We have to worry about politicians. 😢 They're a scourge 365 days a year.

I hope things dry out for you soon. You seem like you've got a surprisingly good attitude and strong resolve. Hang in there and good luck. 💪

Glad you've survived, even if your house is suffering. I miss New Orleans, but damn I dont miss the tantrums Mother Nature throws at Loosyana
