To other LGBTQs: How do you cope with homophobes?

I personally often get anxious from just thinking if a certain person might be homo- or transphobic or against any LGBTQs. Anyone else?
It's really something how at least half of these comments are from people who don't accept the lgbtq+ community. :/

I just keep my mouth shut, try to blend in, and hope no one finds out I'm bisexual or a supporter of the entire lgbtq+ community. It feels awful. I feel like a betrayer.
I also try to be appreciative of what I have in my country as far as lgbtq+ rights go. And I am appreciative that I don't have to live in fear for my life.

Online I try to stand up against homophobes and transphobes by being informative and correcting them. I don't believe in fighting hate with hate.

I don't feel like I really cope. I feel a little sick all the time knowing I am more likely than not surrounded by people who think an unchangeable part of who I and many others are is wrong and/or disgusting.

@AmbivalentFriability: You're also surrounded by people who think an unchangeable part of you are is no different to the unchangeable part of who they are. We're all different, but we're all the same.

There are billions of people in the world and each one thinks a little different than the other. So why worry about other people, go about your life and make yourself happy. This is coming from a Cross Dresser.

If you truly were being sarcastic there then I do apologize because I cannot pick up on sarcasm through text only through the change in someone's voice or mannerisms as for being daft I can assure you I'm far from it
Unnatural is pink stripes on a corvette.

I just do not have time for identity politics ... I will fight for everybody to have life liberty and to pursue happiness ... no exclusions.

I do not tolerate any segmentation of society ... nor difference in treatment ... even if a segment self-identifies and seeks special status.

People are people

Good is good

Words are meaningless

It is the heart which is important.

That said ... I am very ticked you are labeling me ... labeling anybody ... labels undermine all and any goodwill.

Think about it ...

I try not to over think it….but I find that if I can converse in a civil manner with people it’s always better than dealing with someone who is opposed to being civil. Worrying ahead of time doesn’t really accomplish anything, so I tend to deal with it as it is expressed.

I'm not LGBTQ, but I tend to feel a bit anxious that people might be homophobic or transphobic. It seems so backward and ignorant.

@AwesomeEmoDragon: It still disturbs me that a friend of mine that I thought was a good guy (and who has suffered hate for his ethnicity) made uncalled for comments about a transsexual colleague of mine. It's a nasty surprise to find hate lurking in people you trust.

@AwesomeEmoDragon: Yeah, that's what I don't understand. If you're exposed to hate, surely you know how it feels, and then don't do it to others.
I be nasty back to them. Then they'll just cry and then say "I thought the LGBTQ's were tolerant."

@AwesomeEmoDragon: Well you asked how other people deal with it. That's how I deal with. That's not hypocrisy. That's showing them first hand how they act.

I'm not LGBTQ. But I will say this, not everyone is gonna like me. In fact plenty don't. I can also tell you I don't care. Not one little bit. Be you.

I don't bother with them and just ignore them. They're not with the trouble anyway.

They are as insignificant as a flea and don't deserve my attention.
