Respecting all LGBT, do you?

Gillian · 46-50, T
Respect is something that has to be earned, no matter your gender, age, race, religion, life choice, etc.

I also don't believe people should be discriminated simply because they don't have the same values or lifestyle you do.

Always be open and willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt.

I just have very little tolerance for close-minded, ignorant and arrogant people. And that goes for all walks of life. Nobody is the same just because they have a letter next to their name.

@Abrienda thank you for your reply.

I am not attacking anyone and I was simply referring to people who have been and have made inappropriate assumptions to anyone, not just the LGBT community.

Everyone is entitled and very welcome to say and feel what they want to. It is simply when people start trolling and attacking others, that's when the issues start. I have seen it so often on here and it's not limited to gender. People have been abused because they are not as thin as others, not the same colour, because they choose not to get a drivers licence, etc.

Like I said, I always give people the benefit of the doubt, and am always happy to have a conversation if they are willing to.

@Gillian Certainly, just dangerous to call people who disagree with you names before you actually listen to their disagreements first while them calling yourself open minded.

As anyone who has ever bothered to read my profile or some of my Stories knows I am hardly "closed-minded" on the subject but still consider myself ultra-conservative or better right wing.

So then I have no respect for the agenda since it appears it is designed specifically to suppress (and worse punish)free expression or preference, which is ridiculous or else cities would not be taking the tax dollars of people who object to funding LGBTW (the W standing for "whatever")
"Pride" parades and celebrations. I don't identify myself by my sexual preference or my race and am irritated by those who insist I recognize the parts as greater than the whole

@Abrienda I have read your profile and a few of your posts actually. Hence the reason I am continuing the conversation. And I totally respect your political stance and views. I welcome freedom of speech, especially when coming from a country where that was a joke and govern(people)t abused that. I have also come from a place that was ruled by segregation for over 50 years.

If anyone knows me, they know that I am the last person to call people out or start a fight and always listen to everyone's opinion. The initial post was specifically about respecting someone else, that's all. It was never an attack or forcing beliefs or values on anyone else. I apologise if you saw it that way. I don't believe the person who started this post intended it to be anything political or social either.

However, as I mentioned before, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and views, and that is very welcome too, no matter what they think.

Also, I was simply conveying thoughts about numerous posts and people on SW who have continued to troll, discriminate and abuse others despite the person being attacked listening to their views and trying to have a conversation or explain something. (This is not about this conversation though).

Why respect someone solely based on their sexual proclivities?
SW-User
Of course. Well, if they seem like they deserve to be. I respect individual people.

[c=#7700B2]I don't respect anyone just because of their sexual orientation. [/c]

@TinyViolins I think it's supposed to be read in a Yoda voice 🤔
DragonFruit · 61-69, M
I respect everyone until they disrespect me or my friends/family.
goliathtree · 56-60, M
I respect people who earn my respect. People are people and I have yet to figure out why it seems important to parade things that are inside us? You live your life and I will live mine and if you aren't hurting anyone more power to you, but I don't respect someone just because they have labeled themselves.
They are 100% as worthy of my respect as anyone else.

I respect the communities right to exist as well as thier interests, but find some of the individuals to be insufferable at times.
Depends on the person. Respect is a two way street innit?
I will just as long you dont shove it in my face -
SW-User
of course, they're regular people.
