This is a typical example of an add that's running at the moment, I'm actually quite fond of it, I think it's adorable.

Gay people have money.

They have disposable income. Same thing advertising agencies figured out about black people in the late-1950s.

They have been for decades, advertisers find target markets.

1) it's becoming socially acceptable to be LGBTetc
2) comapnies are interested in profits - and they don't expect significant blowback from those not in the communities.

Kiwi land still has lots of people with straight sexual orientation!

I think the advertising companies have been slow to realise the actual numbers in the gay population so have traditionally marketed to the stereotypical straight couple and family etc who often don't have a lot of surplus income. But now they realise there's a whole cashed up demographic they have been ignoring.
