Why Won't My Parents Accept Me?

I feel bad,, My nephew came out to me before he even spoke to his father(my brother) and I love that kid like he was my own... his father only cared about who is going to carry on the family name,, sad !! I took my nephew in for a few years and made sure he had a proper education and a great job..Now he is living on his own and doing his own thing.. me and my brother talk and my brother still feels I should not have interfered... I asked him about unconditional love ,, and his answer was it only happens in Hollywood... I really feel bad for him and I pray for those that don't understand that you can't stop your heart from loving

You dont need her acceptance.Sure it's nice but you dont need her approval :)

Parents come from a very different generation than you. They didn't have a choice growing up and learned to live with that. So it makes sense that a lot of them won't understand.

Your parents should love you know matter who you are, you are being honest. I wish people can be accepting of this love who you are be happy being you, you only live once don’t hide it other wise you will never be happy.

I’m sorry to hear it. It may take them a while to understand. It’s hard for them, too. But, I’m sure they love you. Be patient with them and keep exploring who you are.
