I Want to Be a Father One Day
Sometimes I say I don't want children, but I admit I'm a little curious to see what it's like. It must be such a profound experience to know someone since the moment they entered this world. To see them at their most vulnerable state. It sounds kind of scary to be honest.
Everytime my child wants to do something dangerous, I'd probably flash back to when I first saw them as a frail, half-baked loaf of bread looking pygmy. And I'd probably get scared for them. And after taking care of them for so long, I'd probably not be very excited to see them out at the mercy of the world.
There's definitely fun aspects to it though. You get to grow and mold them however you want. Like a contest almost. You have to make sure your build-a-baby is the baddest one of them all. Deck that little thing out with all kinds of beneficial skills and knowledge. You can make them greater than you ever were, and you get to see the transition from helpless flesh blob to formidable grown man/woman.
And of course you have someone to hang out with and keep you company when you get old.
I really think I'd enjoy teaching my child the things I enjoy, and also helping them to pursue whatever peaks their interest. Mainly I'm looking forward to teaching them how to defend their self, how to drive, how to approach life, and of course introducing them to the ganja when they're about 16 or so :P
It's fun to fantasize about, but I'm not ready yet lol. I barely have enough cash to keep [i]myself[/i] squared away, plus I have some risky life decisions to make, I may not live long enough to intentionally reproduce. And I've got some growing to do as a person overall.
But one day, who knows. Maybe I'll unleash a little Cognosco upon this unready world.
