I Love Playing Video Games

Okay I'll try to make this simple. Anyone know if the new game that's a horror thriller called "Man of Medan" is inspired by some crazy horror movie I seen in I think the 90s growing up. Like I think it was even on sci-fi channel too a few times. It had a lot of similarities to Man of Medan but I Google and can't find the movie. Please help! I love the game (havent seen finish of game yet) but this is bugging me. Think there was oil they lit on fire near end of the movie. I can't remember it well enough though I was born in mid 80s. I was young seeing this movie I can't remember. Hope someone remembers better.
