I think, having interest in a lot if different things isn't good... [I'd Rather Get To Know You Than Small Talk]

Better to focus on only a few...

The other ones can be like hobbies or passtimes.

Jack of all trades. Master of none.

"A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one."

@Dainbramadge Can you explain?
Dainbramadge · 56-60, M
@Riemann Give me a second. This may get long winded. :-)

It's far better to know a little bit about everything than everything about a little bit.
Exposure.(Probably not spelled correctly) but .... I had this fantastic teacher in high school. What made him so great was that even tho I was failing and had a bad reputation with the other teachers he still treated me like a person with a brain.
Any ways ... He once told me that school taught the students everything they could up until the fourth grade. They taught us how to learn. After that it was all about exposing us to as many subjects as they could before we left.
Take me for instance. I play guitar and I'm not half bad either. I am not centered on just one style but rather I dabble in many. It gives me my edge musically. I tap different styles at different times in the same song. OK. Maybe not a good example or just not written out right so I move on.
Take me yet again. Work. I started my work life installing flooring. I spent about 10 years doing that so I got pretty good at a lot of different types of floor coverings. BUT .... then I got into a machine shop. I started in assembly and worked my way through management. By the time the shop closed I could produce the product door to door from raw material all the way to paint and load the truck by myself. I wasn't a master of one department but rather I knew what it did. I knew how it fit into the big picture.
After that I became a fabricator. I build things out of metal. I can now machine the raw material, in various fashions, into a working part. I can then put that part with others and make an even better part. So with all that knowledge I gathered in all of those different jobs I had, I have a well rounded knowledge of how to produce many different things.
This isn't coming out right.
Now.. I am studying marketing and advertising. I still have all those skills I picked up along the way and believe it or not they all extrapolate into the big picture of even marketing.
Crap. I knew this was going to be hard and I don't even know if this is what you were looking for.
Ask me a question more specific and I might do better at answering it than I have so far. LOL
