I Have Had Brain Surgery

I don't really want to be the first writing about this, but oh well.
I had intractable epilepsy really bad by about age ten. They had me on the max amount of meds without my liver shutting down, and I was still having seizures daily. Without the surgery, the docs said I had a 5% chance of survival.
So, we went to the children's hospital to have the surgery. The first surgery they went in and put 82 electrodes on the surface of my brain. We sat around for two weeks waiting for me to have a seizure so they could figure out where my seizures were originating from.
Once I had the seizures and the doctors did their thing, I had the second surgery. They went in, took the electrodes out, and removed about a quarter of my brain.
The downfall was the surgeon noticed part of my brain was deformed. They hadn't tested what that part was responsible for, but he believed that if he didn't take it out, I'd still have seizures. My parents told him to do it.
I woke up paralyzed on the left side of my body, missing 45% of my vision, and no longer able to sing (that one's weird, right?). I relearned how to walk and use my left side though it's still weak and my hand and ankle are assholes to me. I can sing now too (not well). My vision never came back, but all good I guess.

Inspiring story. I'm glad you were able to work back through it and regain something you enjoy as well. My doctor refused to set up surgery on me since the affected area was too close to the brain stem. Luckily the seizures waned with meds and time.
