Do you think that wearing the mask is every introverts secret dream come true?

Not gonna lie...wearing the mask has helped in a variety of situations where I don’t feel like getting judged.

I'm an introvert, and it only increases my anxiety.
Peaceful · F
@NerdyPotato yeah, but the media has, once again, an incredible job of dividing us.
purplepen · 51-55, F
@NerdyPotato There are legal exceptions for people whose physical and/or mental health conditions make it difficult to wear a mask. But most people are not aware of any legitimate exemptions, so they tend to spew hate at anyone who doesn't have a mask on, regardless of their social distancing.

@Peaceful Indeed. I easily have panic attacks, and of course, they're worse in public. I get more & more anxious around people, and especially new environments, the older I get. It's weird.
Yeah add a hat and sunglasses and it’s an introverts paradise
Maybe for some.

But being an introvert isn't necessarily about being shy or not wanting to be seen.

It's more that it's uncomfortable to be around too many people for too long, and draining to be with anyone for more than a few hours. We recharge our energy by spending time alone. But even introverts do like to socialise. We do it differently - prefer company when it's one on one and deep.

Most introverts already have a wide range of tactics for getting time alone when they need it. For most, the mask would make little difference.

@hartfire How do you suppose people become introverts? Is it cause we just cannot deal with people's BS any more?
@CestManan No. I think we're born with that temperament.

I am an introvert and I would prefer not to wear one but the world has a hard-on about covid so...
Stray4life · 26-30, F
This is a good point 🤔. I like it because its cold as dick outside and it keeps my face warm. I felt stupid b4 wearing a face cover in the winter
scabs · 51-55, T
Helps hide my ugly and I can mouth swear words at people who make me mad and they will never know.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@scabs Plus no need to fake smiles.
scabs · 51-55, T
@CestManan Exactly, another reason why I like it.
Peaceful · F
In some ways. I mean I can run out to get milk for coffee without brushing my teeth. 😝
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
I like to fill my mask up with M&M's so I can munch on them like a horse.
Ynotisay · M
You're right on the money. It's changed behavior in public. No doubt. Our species evolved in a way that our mouths are really important in communication. Take it away and it alters a lot of stuff.
@Ynotisay the main function of a mouth is to talk. You can still do that with a mask. And facial expressions come mostly from the top half of the face that's still visible.
Ynotisay · M
@NerdyPotato You're right. But teeth are important for primates. We compensate for not having our mouths visible, but we still have to compensate.
It does help on days I don’t have the energy for make up.
@bijouxbroussard yes exactly!

No. I feel like I'm misunderstood a lot more and having to talk even louder (practically yelling) with a mask on (I'm normally pretty soft-spoken). It bugs me.
CestManan · 46-50, F
@SW-User Having to speak much is already a drain on our social energy.
I used to put on masks but everytime I got in trouble so a time like this pisses me off.
It’s mine. I pretend to be Zorro but a Canadian version 😳
deadgerbil · 22-25
I saw an introvert pass out bc of a mask 😬... Jk lol
Iwillwait · M
Helped me a lot. 🙂
