This study doesn't prove that masks don't work because, as is stated, it cannot be known whether the infection was picked up when masks were taken off to eat and drink. Furthermore, they cannot verify that masks were worn correctly, were combined with appropriate social distancing and were of an effective type. Then there is the number in the sample, 154. Far from definitive in all aspects.

It's interesting but that is all.

I'm not really surprised that the Federalist continues to misrepresent what the CDC and scientists, and more importantly common sense, are saying.

The mask is NOT to protect you from getting infected. It is to prevent you from infecting others.

When will the Federalist figure this simple thing out?

I've seen people wearing masks only around their face and not their nose. There's also the eyes, the virus can go into the eyes. That's why I wear safety glasses, the safety glasses just look like real glasses so it's no big deal.

But I think masks are as effective as how you use them and people lie about wearing them, they don't want to feel shamed so of course they'll tell the CDC they've been properly wearing it 🤣

There's also other factors too, like they wear a mask but live with five other people, that's five other chances to get the virus and chances are they could have gotten it at home with the mask off.

There are so many studies with apparently conflicting results. Common sense seems to suggest it's better for everyone to wear one because wearing a mask protects others.

The group was a 100 and something people and its only one study there would need to be more studies done with more people in order to say that what this study tells you is correct and sufficient but this is from the federalist so you can guarantee that they are posting this because they want you to think this.

If you wear a mask and are around people who do not wear a mask your risk of getting covid will be higher than if all around you were wearing mask. All of this is basic science.

If masks didn't work medical professionals wouldn't be wearing them daily.
