Alcohol is a "social" drug. People have been drinking for years and by the time they figure out it's bad for them, they are hooked. My father was an alcoholic for most of my growing-up years and all I saw was the fights, arguments, thrown dishes, curses and my mother's black eyes or bruises. I was proud when he finally quit, but it was a long twenty years to get there. None of me or my siblings drink, thank God.

Aspirin is a drug - but not a illegal one. It does good when I have a cold or headache. you can buy it OTC - which is what I do.

My one sister-in-law has a heart condition, so she is on certain kinds of medication all day long (usually with food). At one point, she was on 17 kinds of pills.

I try to eat and drink healthily. I have too much in my "bucket list" to do to take up marijuana at this stage in my life.

@SW-User I think in many ways they are more progressive that we are. I'm in the US.

@PhoenixPhail I don't think it will be long before it's legal there too, it already kind of is.

@SW-User It's legal in some places, I'm just not in one of those places. To be honest, I really don't like the effects of the stuff, like I used to so many years ago. I just use it as an analgesic sometimes. It's much safer than the meds I've been prescribed. I hate taking medicine.

@Misael909 same as drinking age, so 19 in this province.

@Misael909 In Holland and Germany it was 16, which seems like a more reasonable age to me and it's not like society imploded there.

@SW-User Well, it's legal here now for personal use (not just medical) and I'm growing some, but it's still about four weeks until they will flower and my dealer was busy today, so I couldn't pick up some.
