How readily do you forgive a friend who hurts you, but admits it was their stupid mistake?

SW-User
It obviously varies depending on what they did, but I'm pretty forgiving towards people that acknowledge their faults and/or express remorse in general.

That's what I'm thinking as well.
SW-User
I forgive, so few people admit they did anything to contribute to the hurt feelings that it is refreshing when they do.
LachrymoseLamer · 51-55, M
Absolutely right.

Depends. They forgot we had plans and did something with someone else instead. I forgive that. Once. They forgot to go to the bank to get the money they owed me. I forgive that. Once.

I'm not big on starting with a clean slate every time they say they're sorry. Sorry doesn't make it okay to do again. Eventually it seems like they think they can walk on you as long as they apologize for each new footprint on your back.

If they admit it, then it's pretty easy.
LachrymoseLamer · 51-55, M
That's the thing isn't it?
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
Very easily
LachrymoseLamer · 51-55, M
Good. :)
I don't forgive them if they did it intentionally. We are no longer friends imo
Hmm

@MrsNel: Not even if it's your best real life friend??
I'm
Not friends with people like that anywhere
I leave hurt on the playing field ... everybody has positives ... I focus on the good ... and promise them turnaround is fair play

Easily. I even forgive the ones that haven't apologized. I just don't let them get close to me again.
Fernie · F
About the only thing I don't forgive is them NOT taking responsibility for it
LachrymoseLamer · 51-55, M
Yes.
It depends on what you value more, your friendship or your pride.
It depends on how easily your temper can be calmed.
It depends on how much they hurt you and if they realise.

And then forgiveness can happen but for things to go back to how they were can often take longer.
@LachrymoseLamer: me too, very stilted.
@LachrymoseLamer: hugs plus

@InOtterWords: *big hugs plus*

Very readily, and then move on.
LachrymoseLamer · 51-55, M
Best to look forward and not behind.
JackNJ · 46-50, M
I don't, I just cut the out of my life for good
LovelyGorilla · 22-25, F
easily..but then again it depends on what their mistake was , cuz no matter how many time they apologize it might be very hard to accept their apology . and in some situations i might forgive them but there's no guarantee we'll be close like we used to be
LachrymoseLamer · 51-55, M
Things can't be quite the same.
Heartlander · 80-89, M
Yes. Right away .... and chuck it up to a misunderstanding.
It depends on what they did and why. Some things I cannot forgive.
fazer1k · 56-60, M
Quite easily I would have thought.
LachrymoseLamer · 51-55, M
Me too.

I like it when people kiss my ass. So it'd take a while.
SW-User
pretty easily.
I'd accept that pretty easily, I think. I'd have a harder time with someone not taking responsibility or worse, dismissing my feelings.
