I have a co-worker whom I really like, in a friendly way.

I want to be friends with him but I don't want anything romantic as he has kids and junk and i don't do drama.

He seems like he has goals and visions for his life and knows where he wants to be, from the brief talks I've had with him.

We are not close co-workers, meaning we do not work closely together. We don't even work in the same building. The only time I see him is if I'm looking out the window, as he works outside.

I can tell he's very fond of me.

I kind of want to just wait until I put in my 2 weeks notice and then let him know "hey, I think we should be friends".

How would you approach the situation?

I would give him a cookie. Then he has to be your friend for sure. 馃崻
I'd just tell him straight... "Hey, we are just friends - and that's all we will ever be".

No stringing him along until who knows when, just open and honest.

@HootyTheNightOwl I think you may have misread. There is nothing currently going on other than friendly admiration
@iamnikki I'm going by the way that you say that "he's very fond of me" - that could be translated to mean that he may want to take things a stage further than friends... and that's the sort of thing that I would be looking to nip in the bud if I had no interest in the guy beyond friendship.

@HootyTheNightOwl but I do tho.馃き Just maybe not right now. Definitely not trying to start anything but I see a potential friend I I don't want to let that go

I would just let him know that I just want to be friends.
