Have you ever fallen out with a best friend and never made up?

AbbeyRhode · F
No, because the reason we never made up was that I was deceived. That person was never truly my friend.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@AbbeyRhode Often, when people lie to someone close to them, it's in order to, as they see it, prevent the end of the relationship. Ironic but true.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
Yes, a best friend from my childhood proved to be disloyal and very destructive when we attempted to continue our friendship as young adults. I haven't seen her for about 45 years. And that's OK.

Just to show you that I am not really that hard hearted, here is a brief summary of what she did during the horribly memorable summer of 1969:

Killed my dog.
Dug up and destroyed my garden (and was arrogant and unapologetic when it was discovered)
Sold all my furniture while I was at work (she said it was ugly) and kept the money; it was fine expensive antique furniture.
Seduced my long time boyfriend and ruined a long time happy relationship.
Talked to me in an insulting or patronizing manner all summer and refused to back off or apologize as she took over my household and ruined my life.
Lied to my mother and family acquaintances so that the break up of our former friendship was seen as entirely my fault due to my "immaturity."

There's more but I think that the above ought to be enough.

To put it simply, I am NOT the "immature" one here and I do not trust her at all.

Yes, and it bothers me, to this day.......
AbbeyRhode · F
@Oster1 Awwww. It is heartbreaking to lose someone you considered a friend.
Oster1 · M
@AbbeyRhode It really is.....especially with no closure......sad.😔
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
Yea.. it's still sad several years later.. I know it's my fault we haven't made up.. I won't forgive can't..
Dominus · 31-35, M
@Adaydreambeliever I would encourage you to consider it. I had a falling out with a friend of mine and we didn't speak for about a month and he was killed in a motorcycle accident.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
@Dominus It's all too easy to forget that people are perishable. I feel for you. May you find peace over this.
Dominus · 31-35, M
@greenmountaingal Thank you very much for being so kind. I will have to live with it and unfortunately he had to die with it. You are very correct that it is too easy to forget the most recent time you see anyone or speak to them may also be the last. Best to treat everyone you care about as if each time you see them could be the last time.

I was best friends with a guy for 25 years and fell out with him over something small like money....miss him as a friend but what he did hurt.....
Adaydreambeliever · 56-60, F
@Platinum Mine was a similar experience.. we fell out over a car.. well two cars.. silly but it was important to me and it hurt..
Platinum · M
@Adaydreambeliever mine was over two cars....I went abroad and left him two cars to sell and told him the lowest price I would take ..when I phoned him to ask him if they were sold, he said no..I said I'm coming home and I wanted to keep them, he phoned me back a few days later and said they were sold...when I got home he gave me less than half the money I wanted...it was him lying that hurt....he had sold them months earlier...

We have never falling out ...we get annoyed but never got into an arguement
Oster1 · M
I really never knew, what happened....
revenant · F
@Oster1 one is not always privy to everything they go through
Oster1 · M
@revenant For sure......mystery’s abound!☺️
Sometimes familiarity breeds contempt. Other times you go in two opposite directions and just grow apart. The former one happened to me. He can move back to his country after abusing us for all I care now.
revenant · F
We lost sight of each other gradually
Someone I thought was a friend. It took awhile, but once I understood that she wasn’t, I never looked back.
Loretta78 · 46-50, F
Well, two best friends left me just like that - without just saying goodbye. The one from EP has left me after 9 months, the other one from SW after 3 months friendship.

Since then I am done with "friendships."

Wouldn't be surprised if it happened more often than the total number of friends that I've had, somehow.

yup. This was years ago. They can go fuck themselves now lol
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
No, she’s been my best friend since we were 13.
Indy74 · 46-50, F
Yep, sure have. It's been years since we spoke.
SweetMae · 70-79, F
Yes, that was a long time ago.
