It doesn’t seem off or awkward, if it was it probably wouldn’t last as long. As in very short replies not wanting to chit chat. Idk it seems normal, but it’s hard to say when I don’t know either of you and how you guys typically interact among each other.

Your friend is kinda being selfish in this exchange. You told this fella about your serious struggle, and they made it about themself. I think yinzers kinda just need to speak about this in person.

You're obviously not communicating or keeping in touch, hard to maintain a close friendship from a distance..

But it's also hard to share emotional problems with anyone, even friends..

Some people just don't like sharing stuff like that with people in general.
