If a friend behaved strangely and babbled would you avoid him/her?

This is assuming that you've known the person for a few years and they've never behaved this way before. They are babbling irrationally saying, "I am very sick! I need help!" But unable to explain why.

No, sometimes people are pushed to their limit. They just need someone to lean on for a bit so they can stand up straight again.

@curiosi I was delusional because I was in a state of delirium caused by an out of control UTI. It took me 3 months before someone (an acquaintance) gave me a 10 min. ride to a hospital. Later, my friend's all said that they didn't realize I was as sick as I was even though I did not know my own name and wandered around the driveway of my apartment building in my underwear at 3 AM.

@greenmountaingal That's sad, would have been nice if someone noticed. The world is hard enough without having to fight it all alone.

@curiosi I downgraded most of these friends to friendly acquaintances. Now I know I can't count on them in an emergency. It has damaged my sense of security and trust in other people. Now I know who my friends really are. I have two of them, and one is even more incapacitated than I've been. No close nearby or available relatives, at least not in my area. One friend barely able to help because she works long hours.

@greenmountaingal In the same situation. Hang in there. I truly believe there is a purpose in all of this. we are going to come through strong and oh so resilient.

@curiosi Thank you. That is great encouragement. Do you have a similar illness or situation? No relatives, painful physical and/or mental condition?

@greenmountaingal I have a serious health condition. Doctor's say I should have been dead by now. All alone in the world. Those I thought were my friends, headed for the hills as soon as I became ill. To that I say "Thank You" as I never would have known how strong I am if I had help.

@curiosi I admit I have, at times, thought of that old saying, "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." I only hope It's true.

I wish you the best in dealing with your condition.

@greenmountaingal Thank you. I have studied the saints....St. Faustina, St. Teresa of Avila, St. Padre Pio, Mother Teresa. They all had tremendous struggles. I also hang onto these two quotes. It helps

I discovered that the Creator never singles out an individual for an important service to mankind without first testing him, through struggle, in proportion to the nature of the service he is to render. Napoleon Hill

This state is full of consolation for those who have attained it: but to do so it is necessary to pass through much anguish. The doctrine concerning pure love can only be taught by the action of God, and not by any effort of the mind. God teaches the soul not by idea, but by pains and contradictions. Jean-Pierre deCaussade

@curiosi Thank you. I admit I have not really thought about that. It is a comforting thought to believe their may well be a higher purpose in all this.

@greenmountaingal This article may help you. It's written about a priest who was a spiritual director to the nuns in Nice France.
