How do you make new friends when you're an adult?

In real life I mean.
StepDad2 · 36-40, M
Oddly I made new friends getting involved with my daughter. As a matter of fact I met my wife at my daughters soccer game. Our daughters were on the same team.

Other than that I get involved with service organizations like the Lions Club and meet people with similar interests.

@StepDad2 that's pretty awesome.

@Fallflower It is totally awesome. 👍🏼

Well.....ask them questions...get to know the other person...be open...share some stories of your own...be an attentive listener.....show genuine interest in them (its like making love)...find something you have on common with them...build on that over future conversations...laugh with them....
2 ways to reply to this.

a. Be the same you and you'd attract both - like and unlikeminded ones.
b. Perhaps it is about time to befriend one's own self for once that actually clears what real life is all about.

Bests! 👍

I’m definitely my own friend and I’m always me. But thanks anyway 🙏@sspec

I am quite introverted, so you are asking the wrong person. I've heard, however, that you should engage in activities that you enjoy. That way, even if you don't meet someone, you will still be doing what you like.
JerseyGal · 51-55, F
It is not the easiest - but whether in real life or online somewhere, I am just myself. If someone wants to be a friend, they will reach out to you. General conversation, a hello & how are you now & then, etc.

:)

Best option is to go some place that you're interested in. Depends upon your interests of course. Talk to a few people who are there and see if they are interested in a longer talk.
whateverhappens · 26-30, F
Jus talk to people I guess, its easy for me but I just don't ...fancy real life people, if you are outspoken you can make friends anywhere anyhow
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@whateverhappens whatever the opposite of outspoken is, that's me
SW-User
I don't. The ones I have in rl, I've known for years.
SW-User
@Fallflower same. It's like my country has prejudice against older people.
Fallflower · 46-50, F
@SW-User For me I think it's just so much effort and time required and no one wants to put in the work for a new friendship when they already have enough old ones.
Gemineye · 56-60, M
@Fallflower I think thats probably the best reason right there why new adult friendships don't happen!

Hobbies is a good idea. When you feel you want to get to know someone just be yourself and a true friend will understand you

It is Very easy to make friends but equally difficult to maintain that.
