Other than the weather a good day
OliRos · 18-21, F
@vetguy1991 Yes thanks, the weather could have been kinder.
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@OliRos I know....I could see Harry Potter in the dining hall.
OliRos · 18-21, F
@KiwiBird He would be at home amongst our magicians.

KiwiBird · 36-40, F
A great descriptive history lesson. A lot older than my Uni in New Zealand. Great post ❤
OliRos · 18-21, F
@KiwiBird Balliol College was founded in 1263.

The building which is now the Old Kitchen Bar dates back to early 1300s.

No Maori landed here then, as far as we know. Maybe some of them punted up the Cherwell.
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
@OliRos I note the founding date of Balliol College and the arrival of Māori by Waka to Aotearoa are in complete agreement but they were punting down the Waikato.
OliRos · 18-21, F
@KiwiBird 😂😂 I am sure you are right, I will have to check our records for notable Kiwi alumni.
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
I love it. Perhaps I will someday take you on a virtual tour of my university in Providence! But despite being "old" by colonial standards, we have no buildings dating to the 13- or 14-hundreds!!
OliRos · 18-21, F
@sarabee1995 🤗 Glad you enjoyed it. I would love to see your alma mater.

It amuses me that our New Building is older than the USA!
sarabee1995 · 26-30, F
@OliRos Yes, I noted that as well! University Hall on my campus was built in 1770 and is the oldest building on campus. 🤣
OliRos · 18-21, F
@sarabee1995 😂😂 History is strange and, the more of it you have, the stranger it gets.

You've put a lot of work into compiling this episode, Olivia. What's the quotation about a picture being worth 1000 words?🤔
OliRos · 18-21, F
@ArtieKat Thank you. I need to find a couple of better shots but these will do for now.

It was interesting to give a bit of a guided tour.

I thought he was in his fourties - the way you describe him, he should be in his seventies!
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Louis54 You think?
Louis54 · 61-69, M
@OliRos As far as I remember, I could still just walk in my fourties.
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Louis54 I am pleased to hear that.
rachelsj · 22-25, F
Beautiful pictures. I love historical buildings
OliRos · 18-21, F
@rachelsj 🤗Thank you, it is wonderful to live and study among them.
Dez580 · 61-69, M
a delightful post thank you and of Oxford, though having gone to the other great university, i have a natural inclination to hide such praise for Oxford!!!
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Dez580 You mean that place out in the Fens? Poor you!

And thanks. I am glad you enjoyed it.
Dez580 · 61-69, M
@OliRos still it means no hills to encounter and is a much more compact city. My former Oxford colleague once joked it is easier to do well at Cambridge as there is not much else to do than study! The friendly rivalry though did help me often in my research
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Dez580 And you are still recruiting better oarsmen! 🚣‍♂️
Luke73 · 22-25, M
Your college looks really beautiful.
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Luke73 Thank you, it is pretty spectacular.

But it is strange, like I wrote, how quickly it becomes normal to you.
Luke73 · 22-25, M
@OliRos People are good at adapting I guess.

Those are beautiful locations!!
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Quimliqer Thank you. It's strange how you just get used to it, take it for granted.
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
@OliRos Thanks for sharing!!
OliRos · 18-21, F
@Quimliqer It's a pleasure.
