I never noticed that, but it will be a pet peeve now 😅
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@NerdyPotato really? Omg I hate it lol. I was watching a 1 minute movie trailer and saw it twice
@iamnikki I do too, after seeing this 😅

Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
$30 for popcorn, a drink, and a candy.

I could buy all of those at the dollar store for less than five dollars, pop my popcorn at home And watch a new release on my IPTV box

No lineups, no $20 tickets, no loud, screaming kids, and no problems finding a parking spot
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@trotskyaxn2 I don’t know what to do with you lol
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Jenny1234 I wish there was a way to upload them to my tv or something.
DallasCowboysFan · 61-69, M
@iamnikki Movies?
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
Love scenes where the lovers leave their underwear on. Either show everything or cut it from the film and get on with the plot.
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
@ChipmunkErnie lots of women won’t show tits and some men won’t even show ass .
ChipmunkErnie · 70-79, M
@AthrillatheHunt Then don't try and shoot a sex scene. Just skip it and get on with the story.
mooncrest02 · 31-35, F
When they have unnecessary pervy scenes or they always make the female character naggy and annoying. Lol
People always get a parking space right in front of the building they’re going to. Which in a major city is about as likely as winning the lottery.

After spending the night together, women wake up with perfect hair and makeup, women and men kiss like neither of them have dog breath and nobody ever seems to need to poop.
robertsnj · 56-60, M
@OlderSometimesWiser that is awesome! never about the parking thing.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@OlderSometimesWiser I've never noticed the parking situation. Yea I hate how they go to bed with makeup on 🥴
Last movie I went to, Little Women, never started, because there was a bomb threat and we got evacuated.

That was pretty peeving.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Mamapolo2016 well if there was an actual bomb and no one was evacuated...
I'd take that minor inconvenience 🤷🏾‍♀️
Hopefully you got refunded or credited
@iamnikki oh, yes. There was no bomb, but we went back and saw the movie a day or two later and they did refund the tickets.
RenFur · 70-79, M
Everything is done for a reason - for example: when a desk drawer is opened and we see a gun, then that gun will certainly be seen again. Probably involved in a death.
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@iamnikki They were more like seminars. I used to go to the movies every Monday night. They'd show a film and have someone involved with the film there--the producer, director, even the star sometimes. Mostly indie films were shown, but sometimes a Hollywood film was screened, too.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@uncalled4 oh that sounds cool. Bet those are nice memories 😀
uncalled4 · 56-60, M
@iamnikki It was great. I met directors, producers, critics, and the odd star, like Vincent D'Onofrio.
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
The disregard for first aide i.e: The protagonist getting stabbed with something, pulling it out, and then the wound somehow stops hurting but also magically heals 🤷‍♂️
Also, if they pass out, take their clothes off!

I have never bumped into anyone, fell over and somehow landed straight on top of them looking doe eyed into their eyes.

All it takes to make a women fall for you or hot and bothered is to forced a kiss on them. They will also get slack eyed and dopey and not at all pissed off about the assault. - This shit happens quite often in older movies.

Or how everyone seems to understand exactly what's happening all the time. Like there wasn't at least one person in that group that wasn't zoned out during the talk...
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@Thevy29 I don't think I've seen any old movies like that. Yea it makes it super unrealistic when they magically heal from a gumshot wound then keep running.

Or when they hear a noise and yell out "hello?"
As if the bad guy or ki!!er is gonna respond with "yea, I'm in here"
Thevy29 · 41-45, M
@iamnikki You probably have more of a life and haven't seen as many movies as I have...
Careless attention to props, ie: obvious empty coffee cups, featherweight crates & boxes , the firearm "infini-clip" or guns discarded when empty.

Predictable plotlines

overacting

Not every glance or turn of a smile needs a cringe worthy musical cue ( think Rom-Coms, Hallmark romance movies)

Soundtracks closely similar

Forced dialogue

Unrealistic situations, or responses.

Too many tired tropes and cliches to mention.
@iamnikki I get that. There are so many, and it's difficult to pick a single favorite.

I've got a standard set I can
re-watch multiple times.
DallasCowboysFan · 61-69, M
@SethGreene531 +1. Especially the weightless luggage. Why is it, that when they toss some luggage into the trunk of a car (a trunk is also a bonnet for our British friends) it is weightless. But when I toss my luggage into the trunk it weighs a ton, and I am worried about hitting the bumper or the edge of the trunk and scratching the car.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@DallasCowboysFan never noticed that lol. I thought the British word for trunk is boot 👢?
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
Fake jump scares. Like a cat runnin across the room.

Oh I thought u meant movie pet peeves.

Probably when others aren't giving their full attention when the plot is good.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@ScarletWitch or when someone is in their car, thinking hard before pulling off , and someone knocks on the window.
Like does that even happen in real life 💁🏽‍♀️
ScarletWitch · 26-30, F
[media=https://youtu.be/0XC1fGYWLCE] lololol
DallasCowboysFan · 61-69, M
People talking in movies.
People on their smartphones, and seeing their illuminated screen in a dark theater.
Commercials and upcoming movies, and more commercials, so many it seems like they will never end.

$6 sodas and $10 popcorn.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@DallasCowboysFan I get to the movies 20 minutes after showtime for that reason. I've come to realize that they literally show 20 minutes worth of upcoming movie previews.

Gotta snuggle snacks
@iamnikki My Lutheran maternal aunt smuggled an entire large popcorn worth in her large purse into a movie she took us to in the early 80's, the Smurfs the Magic Flute.
calicuz · 51-55, M
Oh, another one is when it's appears to be the end of the movie and then it starts a new ending. If that goes on more than once, it's annoying.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@calicuz favorite movie?
calicuz · 51-55, M
@iamnikki

Too many films from too many different genres to jave just one favorite. My favorite director is Ridley Scott if that's any consolation. 🙂
calicuz · 51-55, M
Gratuitous nudity. Now that I'm older and have "seen it all," I find it completely unnecessary.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@calicuz yep, that too. Even too much kissing is off putting to me. Especially when the movie just comes on and they're in bed making out. How about telling me who the people are and why I should care about them before showing them making out🤷🏾‍♀️
calicuz · 51-55, M
@iamnikki

That, and I'm growing tired of the sexualization of Western World Women, I'm growing tired of that as well.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@calicuz Seems like they "can't" make movies without it anymore. I've gotten to a point where I check this info on IMDB before I watch something 🫣 Yesterday I just fast-forwarded through it
robertsnj · 56-60, M
sequels, and using the same actors, writer and directors over and over and over -even worse if they are part of a series of sequels
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@robertsnj sometimes I like that because then I know what to expect
iheartdeadpool · 18-21, F
when its silent for more than 5 minutes, i get smtimes its an artist choice with heavy meaning, idrc tho it's uncomfy
SatanBurger · 36-40, F
Yeah. I have a lot but I can never remember unless it comes up.

One thing I can remember is believe it or not, I sometimes want a movie to be exactly what it appears to be because sometimes the twist is kind of lame than the original idea.

I mean I get the idea of a twist in plot because it's only natural but sometimes I like the movie just the way it is. Some of those twists don't make sense or make the movie lame and some of the twists are great.
Nude in one shot and completely dressed in the next. I never understood that concept
Wol62 · 51-55, M
Or a pointless fight, car chase or an argument!
Bignakedguy · 31-35, M
I hate when a romantic movie gets a unnecessary misunderstanding between the two characters

It really drags the movie
AthrillatheHunt · 51-55, M
Seeing palm trees in the background of a movie that supposedly takes place in Chicago or some northern city . Pisses me off .
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I noticed sharp point lights reflected in the eyes of actors in scenes where they make no sense. Maybe it's supposed to have some artistic value but to me it's just illogical.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@CrazyMusicLover not sure what you mean here
Wol62 · 51-55, M
Hmmmmm...none that spring to mind. Maybe rudeness is pretty grim.
DDonde · 31-35, M
Pop culture references or commentary on current society. I like to escape reality in TV/Movies, I'm not looking for commentary on it. Unless I know it's specifically that kind of movie going in.
iamnikki · 31-35, F
@DDonde YESS, I've mentioned that one a post somewhere. I think it's one reason why I like movies set in decades from long ago. No current-day references, and if there is a "current" reference made from decades ago, I wouldn't get the joke anyway lol
Where firearms can shoot 1,000 bullets without reloading.
blackarcher256 · 61-69, M
@NativePortlander1970 Exactly! Fist fights are bloody, and typically over quickly.

I forgot that fight from The Hunted….absurd!
@blackarcher256 The only absurd thing about it was the lack of blood, however a retired military special forces member apparently orchestrated it.
